Overview

Ristorante Nicò, nestled in the heart of Rome on Viale Angelico, offers an authentic Roman dining experience that feels both genuine and inviting. This eatery specializes in traditional Roman cuisine, with a clear emphasis on freshly crafted pizzas and pasta. Among their standout dishes are the Pizza Con Fiori Di Zucca Zucchine E Mozzarella and the Spaghetti Bottarga, each showcasing balanced flavors and a respect for seasonal ingredients. The pizzas, including the classic Margherita and the more aromatic Marinara Con Capperi E Alici, arrive perfectly crisp and light, reflecting the skill behind their preparation.

The space itself mirrors a modest Roman trattoria, with an interior that feels warm and inviting, drawing both tourists and locals alike. Several customers have noted the presence of locals as a mark of quality—an authentic signal that Ristorante Nicò has maintained its roots. The atmosphere is lively, often busy, especially during peak hours. While the staff generally provide friendly and attentive service with English spoken at the table, some travelers have remarked on occasional brusqueness, which may stem from the typical pace and local character of the restaurant.

For those seeking a taste of Rome beyond the usual tourist dining spots, Ristorante Nicò offers a genuine glimpse into Roman flavors and dining culture. The menu is accessible, with translations available, ensuring non-Italian speakers can navigate the options confidently. Signature desserts like the Semifreddo Croccantino Amaretti provide a sweet finish to a meal rooted in Italian tradition.

This restaurant caters to diners who appreciate authentic Roman cuisine served in an unpretentious environment. It is ideal for visitors looking to immerse themselves in local culinary customs, as well as residents craving seasonal and traditional dishes crafted with care. The combination of quality food, a welcoming yet bustling atmosphere, and a balance between tradition and accessibility makes Ristorante Nicò a notable spot for savoring Roman gastronomy in Rome’s vibrant dining scene.

The staff was very friendly and spoke English, the wait for the food was barely 10 minutes. The interior is very nice and it’s a definitely great spot, especially since I’ve seen locals visit it often.

My friend and I went in there completely at random and we did not regret it. Wonderful food, quick and efficient service. The menu was translated into English. The waiter was friendly. Everything was honestly great and the price was so so reasonable given the quality. This seems to be a spot mainly frequented by locals which is usually a sign of quality!

I have to share the sentiments of some others that reviewed. The food is excellent. I had the best pasta I had ever tasted. It was a black truffle pasta. But the service is little to be desired. It’s definitely a locals place and always packed. They did not seem to like us because we were travelers and only spoke English. They were very rude. But we overlooked their rudeness and had a great meal. There were 7 of us and all ordered something different. Everyone was very happy with their food.

The price-quality ratio of the food you'll find here is awesome. We ordered three pizzas, two beers, a juice, and an expresso, and we only paid 45 euros in total. The pizzas are tasty, very crispy, and light to digest. Definitely a lovely restaurant that I recommend to anyone willing to experience the local life.

This place provides a great value for price proposition and we one of the only places open on a hot summer Sunday evening. The owner/manager who was there the day we stopped by to make an order to go was not really welcoming; he might just have had a bad day, I don't know.
